Hi again everybody, welcome to this week's Devlog!
In case you missed our last post, we covered some pretty important stuff - Like how we'll be exhibiting Project Regolith as a part of PAX Rising at PAX Australia later this year, plus how the game will be a part of the Steam Next Fest in October, and lastly, that we'd launched our cool new Story Trailer!
Demo Updates
In our last post, we mentioned that we'd be taking our previously available demo off of our Store Page in order to prep for the aforementioned events. As of the 24th of July, our old demo is no longer playable on Steam.
With the old 2022 demo offline, we're turning our attention towards a new, refurbished demo that both looks better, plays better, and overall just IS better. And while the slice of the game we're focusing on is the same, a significant part of it is different. You might remember from one of our posts a few weeks back, we showed off the updated Hydroponics Lab area:
While the .GIF compression may not do it complete justice, we're MUCH more satisfied with the layout AND the look of the space now.
As part of this rework, we're also revisiting elements of the puzzle itself to help reduce some areas of confusion we've noticed some players hitting in playthroughs we've seen. Ultimately the core idea and mechanics of the puzzle will remain the same, but we're hoping with our planned changes, players will be able to reach the correct conclusion a little more easily.
We'll also be changing out the crusty developer Audio Logs in the demo scenes for our shiny new professionally-voiced ones!
This version of the demo will be the final one we put out before fully launching the game, so we're planning to put our best foot forward, and deliver something that's on par with the quality we're aiming for with the full game. Over the next few posts, you can expect to see some more peeks into what'll be going into the Gold Demo!
Store Asset Updates
To coincide with all this exciting news, we've also updated our Store Page assets! - Some of these updated screenshots were used as cover images for this very update! - This should help give a better idea of the game to people who're just discovering us on Steam.
Check out all the beautiful new screenshots on our store page and if you haven't already, make sure to put us on your wishlist while you are there - Our goal is to push to at least 1000 Wishlists before launch to put us in the best position possible for visibility on Steam, so anything you can do to help is greatly appreciated by the team!
New Website
Before we put this update to bed, I also wanted to let you all know that this past week Regolith launched our official website! You can keep up with studio news, plus find links to all our content, socials, and even learn a bit more about the team and studio as a whole. You can find us at www.regolith.games!
And that's all for now - Make sure to check out the new stuff coming to our Store Page, and also to have a gander at the Regolith website!
As always our socials are...
'Til next time,
- Ryan
